Have You Considered a Sustainable Holiday?

We’re all in this together. Every small step counts when it comes to supporting our planet. From eating less meat, walking or cycling more instead of driving, to choosing locally produced food and avoiding plastic-wrapped products, our collective efforts can help reduce the CO2 emissions that are severely heating up our planet and causing drastic climate changes. But what about holidays? How can we, as a manufacturer of lodges, and holiday park owners work together to reduce the emissions from tourism without compromising on the comfort of your stay?

Well, we think we have found the solution! As we continue to partner with new holiday parks whose core vision is to create a green oasis, we’d like to paint a picture of what we have been discussing and what you could expect from this new way to holiday:

1. Health-Centred Living

Who doesn’t remember that smell of heated plastic when walking into a classic caravan during a family trip as a child? We tend to forget that the smell is, in fact, toxic air that we are breathing into our lungs, which now doesn’t sound all that pretty. These new holiday parks with THC Lodges mean a healthier indoor environment where indoor air pollution is reduced by 75% thanks to the use of natural materials and non-toxic paints and silicones. We also use a HEPA filter MVHR system that continuously filters pollutants from the air, ensuring a healthier environment for you and your loved ones.

2. Conscious Stays

Imagine staying in a lodge that powers itself from May to September using solar energy, heavily reducing your CO2 footprint without you needing to do anything! Even during the colder months, these homes consume 5-8 times less energy than traditional lodges. It’s because we build to housing standards with high-quality insulation, triple glazing, and air source heat pumps that our lodges are energy-efficient year-round, making your stay both eco-friendly and cost-effective!

3. Natural Materials for Mental Wellbeing

We prioritise using real natural materials, avoiding plastics wherever possible. Choosing Scandinavian design fosters a sense of calm and tranquillity, which can significantly enhance mental wellbeing. The use of natural light and materials such as wood, combined with clean lines and uncluttered spaces, helps create a soothing environment that reduces stress and promotes relaxation and mental clarity.

4. Luxury Without Compromise

Experience luxury in the heart of nature! How many of us think of a hole in the floor and flimsy bell tents when we think of an Eco Getaway? Sustainability doesn’t have to mean a compromise on your comforts. In fact, our lodges are designed to the highest spec and can be fitted with integrated coffee stations and wine/cocktail bars, adding a new experience to your getaway. Imagine your lodge feeling more like a hotel room nestled in stunning countryside, with all the luxury amenities you need – the only thing missing is a butler.

5. Water-Saving Solutions

A topical subject as our water companies spew sewage into our wonderful nature locations and barely acknowledge the damage they are doing. For ourselves, as we plan ahead, future-proofing the lodges for unprecedented times where we may need to begin to conserve water, we have chosen to incorporate aerated shower heads and taps, reducing water consumption by up to 40% without compromising on water pressure. We also use hot water recovery systems in the showers, saving up to 30% of hot water, thereby conserving energy over the lifetime of the lodge. Now that’s a smart lodge!

The Perfect Setting for Wellbeing and Comfort

Our new holiday parks aim to provide more than just a place to stay. They offer outdoor gyms, nature trails, boating on lakes, and natural swimming lakes. It’s a key trend for 2024-2025 holiday parks as they pave the way for the new way to holiday, and while this might not be everyone’s cup of tea, data shows that more and more holiday goers are seeking to ‘switch off’ with a new focus on wellbeing.

Benefits for Holiday Park Owners

So what about the owners of the parks and why would they choose us? Well, let's break it down into simple numbers to see the significant benefits for holiday park owners.

Example of a 50-unit holiday park (based on 219 days of use):

  • 50 Traditional lodges based on using 5000kw each lodge x 24.5p = £1,225 (23 bottles of lpg * £70) = £1,610) (£2,235 x 50) = £61,250

  • 50 Traditional lodges water usage for one year (two person ) = 60,444L for one lodge (x50) = 3,022,200L

  • 50 THC lodges with solar power being used between the months of May to September =1446kwh each lodge x 24.5p (between Oct to April) = £354.43 x 50 = £17,721.5

  • 50 THC lodges water usage for one year = 36,266.4L for one lodge (x50) = 1,813,320L

Note: Traditional lodge size 40ft by 20ft. This sum will not be exact as we cannot predict weather patterns as well as an individuals complete usage of energy over a year*

As you can see, a holiday park owner can save over £40,000 per year in energy costs as well as doing their bit for the environment by simply choosing our models over traditional designs. This doesn’t include the additional savings from reducing the water usage by 1,208,880L on average every year!
