The Oak

Passive House Modular Homes

Taking our philosophy of homes that are better for both people and planet, it made sense that our modular housing solutions really emphasised that ethos.

With the Oak, it’s a beautiful, modern 3-bed home that is on one floor, giving a sense of open spaces and one that meets the needs of small families and those looking to down size too.

The Client said “With an ever-changing climate, rising costs for energy bills, and us wanting a home that would look great today, as well as in 50 years time, we felt that going with not only a Scandi-style home would match our lifestyle, but it would provide us with a modest home that wouldn’t cost the earth to run. We look forward to seeing how it treats us over the coming months and years.”

“I wanted something that not only covered 90% of my energy needs but was comfortable year-round - my 1990s static is a far cry from the Skylark Slimline that I now have.”

Off-grid Living for Farmers

When a farmer approached us to find out about how they could offer off-grid living solutions for themselves or agricultural workers, we were able to offer our range of lodges as the perfect solution.

With farmers able to use agricultural worker buildings for most of the season, they found something that was on wheels and capable of being moved, being a huge asset - but more than that, they wanted to have something which was not only striking, yet comfortable even in the depths of winter.

As the Skylark, and all of our lodges come with super insulated walls, heat pumps, and triple glazing as standard, the design provided the farmer with everything they needed.

With 70 acres to manage, this can be moved about to be closer to the areas that need managing each year, and with the solar panels providing all the power it needs, it allows for no expensive infrastructure costs to be needed - saving them £1000s in upfront costs, and energy costs year on year.

“When we found THC, we noticed that they not only built with quality, but they were well suited for the cold extremes of our climate here in Iceland. After discussing our needs with them, the Skylark lodges were the best choice for us and our guests - we can’t wait to open in the New Year”
